we might have to edit the napkin list...

just a copy and pasted chat i had with sarah p. today (i hope she doesn't mind me posting it, especially since it makes me appear to be the heartless one. haha!) i was at work today and my gmail told me that an old classmate from around elementary school added me to her facebook. and of COURSE she's married with two kids. i relayed this information to sarah which caused her to ask:

sarah: hahaha...do you ever feel old looking at people who are married with kids? a lot of people from my class are married with kids. in fact quite a few have been married for years

me: mmm
not old per se
more like
dead on the inside?

sarah: awww...but you go out and see the world and do so much fun stuff...think of the people who sit at home watching their kids and don't have the luxury of spontaneity

me: oh actually i meant
i feel dead on the inside because i don't care about them getting married and having kids...hehe

haha and of course...i'd be THRILLED when my real, close friends will start getting married and having babies. :-) :-) hurry up, muse and get that list started~!!

Surreal This

My boss is still out of town and out of boredom I created another blog. (I'll see how long this lasts). Basically I just post images and people can create their own masterpiece by combining the images. I may have done it more for me just to help me get my creative juices flowing since they've been kind of dormant lately but I thought it would be fun to take a few minutes to step away from our normal jobs and do something random.

Let me know what you think. Feedback is definitely welcome. If you think of any themes I'm all ears.

Happy Monday!

I guess the link would help too :)

i just can't reach you

a friend sent me this picture that was on a t-shirt. i love it~! take a looksee below...as well as my favorite song by the clientele, which came to mind when i saw the design. the song is called "i can't seem to make you mine". (sorry if some of the pics are a little racy for work -- this was the only version i could find that didn't have scenes from the "lake house" tacked onto it.)

Pee-cans vs Peh-cahns.

I decided to make Nutmeg Doughnut Muffins for Marie's Brunch on Sunday. Recipe from Orangette, awesome awesome awesome food blog. Also, we're going to make our first official avt video. I'm not exactly sure what that entails just yet but we'll figure it out then. It'll probably be our patented Video Clips vs Photo Slideshow madness. You know how we do.

Side note, who's making mimosas!? Should I bring coffee?
Andddddddd, since I don't want to flood the blog (ew I hate that word),

to follow up on vina's food post...

don't forget:

a note on self-defense

want to watch a video showcasing how to avoid an attacker featuring a ninja baby?

you clicky here. hahaha -- enjoy~!

More Ira

Below are more image of Ira Glass experience.
I also just wanted to thank
Mariam for saving seats for us.

Geesh I felt short. Or he's really tall. Or both.

Mariam and Ira

And last but not least is Stephanie and Ira

omg it's ira~! (part deux)

hey all~!

lucky me, mariam found out just in time that ira glass was going to be at borders tonight~! i went to work early so i could leave in time to catch the metro w/ sarah and arrive at borders before it got too crowded. lucky us (again), mariam got there early enough to save us seats and we were also able to get bracelets so we could have our dvds signed by ira after the q&a portion.

we waited for about an hour and a half, and by the time ira came out, the entire place was PACKED with people~! ira glass expressed that he was surprised so many people showed up -- but HELLO this show is awesome~!

here are some pics we took with ira (sarah p.'s pics aren't included since i don't have her camera, but hopefully she'll post hers here soon too~!):

ira speaks~! he discussed the show (both radio and television) and answered questions from the audience. he talked about a few episodes and people he has interviewed...and also listed some tv shows he likes to watch, including madmen, the wire, dexter (~!), the daily show, the colbert report, and 30 rock. one of the most interesting talks i've been to =-]

mr. glass was super nice~! he actually tried to have a conversation with each person he met in line. when he started talking, i was relieved that he didn't use any big words because i was having a hard time following the conversation already, as i was super nervous~! i told him i loved his show and then he said thank you! and then he started talking about how so many graphic designers are into the show and even about the WEATHER and how he hadn't expected it to be so warm.

if there was anyone more nervous than i, it was mariam~! she was totally excited to meet ira~!

mariam and ira~! i didn't get to hear what they spoke about, but i'm sure she'll fill us all in~! (as well as sarah p.~!)

ira's signature on the season two dvd cover. i don't really ask for autographs or even pictures, but when i really admire someone's work, i have to go for it~! so far, it's andrew bird and ira glass (what's up with the chi-town dudes?? although mr. glass is from b-more).

The title says it all...enjoy :)

Thai Tea

Thanks for the vday ideas, since my phone is pretty much broken down I decided to ask for that as my vday gift. My poor stolen phone is missing its battery plate, held together by scotch tape, and on most occasions won't take incoming calls.

As part of Jo's gift I'm gonna get him a container/set of his favorite thai tea. Vina mentioned that I can find it at Global. I'm gonna try and stop by there this evening. Vina, expect a call from me this evening cuz I'm most likely gonna be lost and confused in Global :)

What's everyone else doing for Vday?

Help, please

So this is my second valentine's day. Jo asked me what I want, and I have no idea how to respond to that. I can't really think of anything I really want. I know if I tell him to be creative I run the risk of getting a pet rock or something lame :P

Any thoughts? I mean what do folks usually get for valentine's? He's already gonna supply the standard flowers and dinner. But is there really anything else that I should consider or ask for?

BBB!

3:36. Look closely.

avt shenanigans

hi all~! as requested, i will be posting the infamous LIST. the meaning of the list shall remain completely in the dark on facebook and the like for various reasons (mainly so the list can HAPPEN), but here, the explanation is a go!

what happens when you mix up an avt reunion, brunch buffet, sushi, pineapple, coffee, five conversations, and a napkin complete with pen? the LIST~! here it is, everyone -- our prediction of the order in which everyone will be married. note: this does NOT include the lucky few who are already engaged to be married (okay, the one lucky one who is sarah p.~!), so please do not think we excluded you on purpose. here it is~! oh, and just so you know, mariam and larry are tied for last.

check my facebook or flickr for the other pics.

P.S. this sunday, the 15th, those of us who are free during the late morning, we will be gathering at yathrib's house for a little get together for marie's one year anniversary. and since she loved food, we're going to have a potluck~! i know, shocker. BUT, as an avt first, the theme is BRUNCH. i'm bringing my belgian waffle iron. please check your facebook for a message sometime tomorrow as i will get the list of things to bring started. huzzah waffles~!

Don't Divorce Us

Here's a vid about the potential fate of California's married gay folks.
I'll admit it. I cried a little bit.

where's stephanie?

forget where's waldo...

so, i haven't been posting all that much, but i plan to post about my bird show extravaganza (perhaps on my own site since i'm sure you all hear tooooo much bird talk from me), but here's a picture game for you~!

i went to the 9.30 show on tuesday night and i was reading this oh-so-sucky review of the performance when i noticed that my sister and i are in the pics~! it's super dark, but nevertheless...we're there.

where's stephanie up in that balcony??

thereeeeee she is...with raquel on her left:

Tomato perfume and baby fun time.

I love the fun names of all these perfumes.
My top picks are:
Gathering Apple- "Thousands of ripe red Makintosh Apples and a bit of old weathered wood from the bushel baskets"

Lavender Tea- yeah, that's pretty much self-explanatory.

Memory of Kindness- "the shining green scent of tomato vines growing in the fresh earth of a country garden"

Narcissus- "the scent of narcissus, clean running water over mossy stones, the wind blowing gently through green leaves"
